Along with 50% of the population, I have KP, or "Keratosis Pilaris". It sounds weird/scary/wtf, however it's really just small little bumps on the skin, and is known as "chicken skin". I get these lovely little bumps on my upper arms, and it can be quite noticeable at times. I have found that these two products from Lush actually make a difference. This post could also be titled "My Favorite Lush Products!" because I LOVE these products (not just for KP) and have repurchased them both multiple times.
This first product is a Lush's "Buffy" body butter. And while I do wish this was $0 like the label says, it is actually $11.95 for one small 3.3 oz chunk. (You can also buy a larger 7oz piece for $22.95) It looks just like a bar of soap, but it's so much more than that!
The tiny specks you can see are actually ground rice, almonds, and beans. This is a rather rough exfoliation, but it really does take care of the bumps on my arms. Buffy can also be used all over the body, such as on your legs before shaving, or during the cold winter months when skin can get especially dry.
I recommend getting a tin ($3.95) from Lush for Mr. Buffy to live in. Why? Because this bar is actually very slippery. Along with the rice, almonds and beans, there is cocoa and shea butter in this bar. This is like an all-in-one skin care product because not only does it exfoliate, but it moisturizes your skin at the same time! After using this, my arms feel extra smooth and you can feel a lotion type residue on your skin even after drying off.
Now because there is no such thing as being overly moisturized, I also use this: Ro's Argan Body Conditioner. This is my absolute favorite product from Lush.
Ro's Argan has argan oil (WHAT did not see that coming), cocoa butter, cupaucu butter (no idea what that is, sounds fancy though), almond oil, roses, and hints of lemon and vanilla. It smells absolutely amazing and is unbelievably moisturizing.
So it's basically like a hair conditioner, but for your body. You use it in the shower, on anywhere that needs a little extra moisture. For me, I use it on my arms after I use the Buffy body butter, as well as on my legs after shaving. I do this away from the water so it doesn't immediately wash off, and usually let it soak in my skin for a couple of minutes. Once you rinse it off, you're left with beautifully soft skin, kissed by the angels of argan oil. This stuff is seriously awesome. Worth every penny ($32.95...the only negative about this product)
So that's that! I know these products (like everything else from Lush) are pretty pricey, but they do last quite a long time if used sparingly. I only do this routine about twice a week, and the Ro's Argan conditioner lasted me over 6 months!
What products do you use for dry skin/KP? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks so much for this info! I get those awful bumps on my arms too. I usually just ignore them or use the apricot scrub by St Ives. It improves them by 35% I would say.

You're welcome! (Sorry this reply is so delayed!)
DeleteThank you so much! I also have KP - mostly on my upper arms - and I've worked out a pretty good routine. Aside from soap, I've never tried any Lush products before, but I've heard nothing but good things about Ro's.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! I have heard good things about Buffy and I was interested in how it would work for kp. I've been getting it bad on my legs in the colder months so I really want to try this. I have found that using pure argon oil has helped my arms too when I mix it in with my lotion.

I don't usually post comments on anything but I really have to thank you for telling us about the Buffy bar. I have tried so many products and after so many failures, I was about to give up. I'm so glad I came across this post because not only are my legs well moisturized and soft but my bumps are going away and I don't feel so embarrassed to show my legs anymore. Now i just need to work on my tan haha thanks again
